Nearby, the Lake of Léon is well worth a visit for a boat trip down the Courant d’Huchet amidst the flowering hibiscus and giant ferns. To the south-east lies “Medieval” Béarn, where the towns of Orthez, Navarrenx, Saliés de Béarn and Pau reserve many a surprise for visitors. To the south, the Basque Coast is a real delight: after the must-see towns of Biarritz and Saint-Jean de Luz, head inland for unforgettable visits to the village of Sare and the mountain of La Rhune.
